Grand Ole Opry Goes Pink is a HUGE Success

We had the opportunity to attend the “Grand Ole Opry Goes Pink” this past Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN.  The night started off with a first class VIP reception before the show.  Individuals could pay to attend the reception, with all proceeds benefiting Susan G. Komen of Nashville and Women Rock for the Cure.  We were definitely treated like VIPs.  At the recption we snacked on tasty hors d’oeuvres, had a wide variety of drinks, including pink lemonade and mingled with other country music enthusiasts as well as cancer survivors. We had the opportunity to meet Cailin Lynn, a real sweetheart, and an artists whose own family has been touched by cancer. We were also finally able to meet a couple of the amazing ladies who run Women Rocks for the Cure!  They are just as sweet in person!

Once we were seated for the show with our pink Opry programs in hand Carrie Underwood took the stage to flip the switch. She was appropriately dressed in pink and came out to flip the giant pink switch. The Opry’s famous red bard immediately transitioned to pink! The evening was cram-packed with amazing performances! Caitlin Lynn of Caitlin & Will took the stage for a flawless performance of “Address in the Stars.”

Other Grand Ole Opry members that performed were Lorrie Morgan, Little Jimmy Dickens, Bill Anderson, Jeannie Seely, and Mike Snider.  Cancer survivor and Good Morning America Host – Robin Roberts was the guest host for the last portion of the Opry.  (Photo left:  Credit – Jennifer Graham) Carrie Underwood returned to the stage once again to perform her new single, “Cowboy Casanova” & then gave a moving performance of one of her fan favorites, “Jesus Take the Wheel.” (Photo below:  Credit – Buffy Burton)

Overall it was an amazing and unforgettable night! According to fans the second show was just as incredible as the first! We definitely hope that the Opry allows Women Rock for the Cure & Susan G. Komen of Nashville to turn the Opry pink again in the future! After the show we had the opportunity to chat with Carrie Underwood & we even told her about our site! Keep your eyes open because in the next few days we’ll be posting info about auctions benefiting Komen of Nashville including a Carrie autographed guitar! We also have an auction of our own that we’ll be hosting & donating all of the proceeds to Komen Nashville!
